I just needed a light that was bright enough and easy enough to hold/prop up/station somewhere so I would have enough light to get dressed and/or do my makeup by if there's a blackout. It's actually happened to me before (sometimes they'll do one of those "maintenance" outages) and I've learned the hard way that the 2 twin bulb camping lights I have don't actually provide enough light to do either of these things conveniently.
Also, keep in mind, the room I tried this light out in is pitch black, even during the day, since I keep the windows in that room completely covered during the summer. On high, this light is bright enough to light the whole room and it's actually bright enough that I'm able to do my makeup, which impressed me because I usually have some sort of discoloration to cover up and I have a pretty hard time doing that if I don't have access to the right lighting.
As for battery life? I haven't used it long enough to figure out how long it lasts but from the reviews of the 60w it doesn't sound like it lasts more than a few hours on high, though it possibly lasts several on low. I figure I'd only need to use it on high for like 10-20 minutes a day, so I'm fine with that.
I took off a star because when I charged it it seemed confused about whether it was fully charged or not. When I first plugged it in it was right out of the package and the light (when plugged into a charger) indicated it needed to be charged. The charge indicating light stayed like that for a couple hours as it charged until I unplugged it (it was in the way) and plugged it in somewhere else and it suddenly decided it was fully charged. I've noticed this seems to be a common trend among cheap usb type charging electronics; a lot of times the charge indicating lights are useless even if the actual product works (and charges) fine, so i'm not worried.
